In September 2024, Paul McCartney was in Los Angeles rehearsing for his “Got Back” tour, which was set to start on October 1 in Uruguay.
On this day, September 17, he decided to take a break and went to see comedian Deon Cole’s new show at the Hollywood Improv comedy club. During the performance, Deon Cole invited Paul on stage, joking that they had indulged in some “good shit” before the show: “I had to smoke, and that’s why this is happening.“
Standing beside Paul McCartney, Deon Cole addressed the audience, “Y’all motherfuckers did not give no love at all to me tonight.” He then thanked Paul for attending, after which Paul approached the microphone and commented, “I’ve just been enjoying seeing you working through this material. You’re right, some of it bombed.”
