NEW DOUBLE “A” SIDE FROM PAUL McCARTNEY AND WINGS
Welcome to the new single from Paul McCartney and Wings. It’s a double “A” side to be released on Friday December 1st, coupling two Paul and Linda McCartney compositions, “Hi Hi Hi” and “C Moon”.
Both songs were recorded in early November at E.M.I.’s Abbey Road recording studios and feature Paul and Linda McCartney, Denny Laine, Henry McCulloch and Denny Seiwell. The sessions were produced by Paul.
“Hi Hi Hi” was played for the first time on the band’s recent European tour. So good were the receptions the song received that Paul McCartney and Wings were left with little choice – “Hi Hi Hi” just had to be the band’s third single. (It’s strictly a single release and won’t be on the album the band are currently recording for release in the early New Year.)
“C Moon”? It’s simply a very beautiful and very subtle song. As all of you remember, Sam the Sham in “Woolly Bully” sings: “Let’s not be L7”, meaning: “Let’s not be square”. “C Moon” is the opposite of ” L7″, so it’s obvious that “C Moon” means “Cool”.
So here’s the new single – “Hi Hi Hi” and “C Moon”.

Wings beating on both sides
“Hi, Hi, Hi / C Moon” (Apple R 5973). A double “A” side from the boys and girl and certainly a contender for chart honours. Now that is REAL record reviewing for you. “Hi, Hi, Hi” is a rocker and it’s the side that I prefer. It opens with some merry slide guitar noises and then shifts into a crisp stomper. The lyrics concern a lady being met at a station and the implication is that a certain amount of rudeness is about to take place. What is the world
coming to, eh?Paul sings with a load of echo and without sounding much like Paul – not his rocker voice anyway. There’s a brief, dreamy sort of magical mystery sequence. Towards the end the tempo increases as everyone works to bring it on home over swelling sounds (now then, children). Very good stuff—and produced by our Paul.
The “B” side is a curious work and may take more listens than I have been able to give it. It opens with piano, tambourine, strange mutterings from Paul, a giggle from Linda and then “was that the intro? I should have been in.” The feel is sort of Hawaiian but God alone knows why I think that. “C moon is she, C to me,” sings Paul and his deft production includes xylophone, brass and many other elements. A fine single anyway – good value for money and all that sort of thing.

Paul, George albums due
Paul McCartney’s Wings release a new double A-side single on December 1. Entitled “Hi Hi Hi ” and “C Moon,” both are Paul and Linda McCartney compositions.
The single is strictly a non-album release and has only been released because of the tremendous response the songs received during the band’s recent tour.
A new album is currently being recorded at the Abbey Road studios, for release in the new year.
George Harrison’s new album is expected to be released sometime during late January-early February. Tentatively called, “The Light That Lightened The World,” this track is expected to be released in mid-January as a preview single to the album.
Personnel on the album remains the same throughout and includes Nicky Hopkins (piano), Klaus Voorman (bass), Gary Wright (electric keyboards) and Ringo Starr and Jim Keltner alternating on drums.
All tracks are self penned by Harrison, who is also featured on vocals and lead guitar. Harrison also coproduced the album with Phil Spector.
