On July 5, 1968, James Gray participated in a Beatles recording session, playing the saxophone on Paul McCartney’s “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.”
However, Paul McCartney decided to remake the song, resulting in James Gray’s part being omitted from the White Album’s released version. The version featuring his performance was eventually released on “Anthology 3” in 1996.
James Gray was invited back on July 11 to re-record his part, and this version was included in the White Album’s final release.
