About

Paul McCartney was not in the studio for that session, being in the USA for promotional duties for Apple. Ringo Starr was also absent.

Revolution 1” had been worked on during the first recording days for the new album, on May 30, May 31 and June 4. On this day (from 2.30pm to 9pm), it was completed with the addition of two more overdubs. The first overdub was the addition of a brass section composed of two trumpets and four trombones. Then George Harrison added a lead guitar line.

From 10pm to 3.30am, John Lennon and George Harrison continued the work on “Revolution 9“, overdubbing the final sound effects.

The stereo mixes for “Revolution 1” and “Revolution 9” were then made. At this stage, “Revolution 1” took its final form, being trimmed down from 10 minutes 30 seconds to 4 minutes 15 seconds. The stereo mixes for “Revolution 1” done on this day would be dropped in favor of a new stereo mix done on June 25.
