About
The Beatles spent this entire week of recording at Trident Studios, and this was their last day there. John Lennon was absent between October 3 and 7.
The session, which lasted from 6 pm to 1 am, started with some work on George Harrison’s “Savoy Truffle“. They had previously worked on this track, on October 3. On this day, George recorded an acoustic guitar and his lead vocal, which was ADT’ed (“Artificial Double-Tracking”). Paul McCartney overdubbed some harmony vocals on some parts. Work on “Savoy Truffle” would continue at Abbey Road on October 11.
The session continued with Paul overdubbing his bass part on “Martha My Dear“, recorded on the previous day.
The rest of the session was spent doing mixes for “Honey Pie“, “Martha My Dear” and “Dear Prudence“.
“Dear Prudence” would be remixed on October 13. But the mono and stereo mixes for “Honey Pie” and “Martha My Dear” made on that day were the ones used on the White Album. They were copied at Abbey Road on October 7 to convert the Trident recording made with the American NAB equalisation to the UK standard CCIR.
