Paul McCartney joined U.K. MPs in urging the European Commission to scrap plans to ban the use of meat-related names such as “burger” and “sausage” for plant-based products.

Linda McCartney Foods, the company founded by Paul’s first wife Linda McCartney, had long sold products such as veggie burgers and veggie sausages.


To stipulate that burgers and sausages are ‘plant-based’, ‘vegetarian’ or ‘vegan’ should be enough for sensible people to understand what they are eating. This also encourages attitudes essential to our health and that of the planet.
