Thirty years ago, it would’ve been the concert event of the century. Now it’ll just be a couple of old men playing to a bunch of stuffed-shirts, but it’s for charity, so you can’t really fault them. Tonight in Los Angeles, Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson, two of pop music’s most celebrated songwriters, will join forces at a fancy benefit for landmine charities. The two men will duet on Wilson’s “God Only Knows” (which McCartney has described as his favourite song) and the Beatles” “Let It Be”. We expect there to be a lot of rattling of jewelry in response to the performance. “Brian is a phenomenal talent” McCartney said in a press release after his first practice with Wilson last night in Los Angeles. “His is the only music that can reduce me to tears.” Oh Paul you softie.
