Keith Smith

From Peterson Strobe Tuners (petersontuners.com):

Keith Smith has been Paul McCartney’s instrument technician since the 1980s and is the custodian of such iconic instruments as Paul’s 1962 Hofner 500/1 bass played on so many Beatles, Wings & solo hit records and his 1964 Epiphone Texan acoustic guitar (“Yesterday” was recorded on it). These most precious artefacts of classic rock music are tuned both live and in the studio with a Peterson tuner. Keith uses an AutoStrobe 590, and there are several long-serving Peterson Model 450 strobe tuners in the McCartney gear arsenal.

Hello,

I'm Helene Webman, CoFounder of the ToneWoodAmp. This is a great device for singer/songwriters or any musician that wants to be inspired, unplugged and have effects coming directly out of the guitar itself. It uses the body as a sound cone, and the sounds are fantastic; reverbs, delay, chorus, echo, etc... We have many top artists using it, George Benson, Joe Bonamassa... and we would love to share one with Paul. We live in Phx. AZ and we see he is coming here in June, would that be a better time to share with you this magical device? Mike Dawes from the UK, two years in a row considered from Music Radar, best acoustic player, can't live without it. Please watch here Mike's rendition of "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" John Mayer . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xbCzjpzg9jg . thank you.

Hi Helene,

Unfortuntately, we are not affiliated with Paul. I think you would have better chance to contact him via his official website - http://www.paulmccartney.com or via PML communications.

Best of Luck !

spill it.... the Hofner 500/1 has PYRAMID flat wounds on it..... give something away for free once in 60 years you faux-posh-ers. Those are green silk windings on the bass strings. Pyramid short scale Gold strings. in the late 50's when the 500/1 was being brought out Hofner worked with Pyramid Strings and fitted the 500/1 with Pyramid strings. In that tech interview the tech shows the headstock of the 500/1... those are Pyramid Strings...... quit carrying McCa's "cutesy" ~ long and shiny strings ~..... he should such is thumb a bit when he says that.....
