For the first time ever, explore
Sir George Martin’s personal score archive.

Featuring a foreword by Sir Paul McCartney

Released in honor of Sir George’s centenary, George Martin: The Scores is the result of unprecedented access to the producer’s personal archive of music manuscripts and materials. Begun in cooperation with George himself, the three-volume set presents complete, life-size reproductions of dozens of his original handwritten scores, tucked away for safekeeping following their use on iconic recording sessions for The Beatles and others throughout his long and distinguished career.

Original manuscripts for “Yesterday,” “A Day in the Life,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Live and Let Die,” and many more provide a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse into the producer’s working process. Along the way, insightful commentary provides a detailed exploration of each piece, accessible even to individuals who do not read music. Several of the manuscripts reveal discarded arrangement ideas that differ notably from the final recordings, charting the evolution of George’s vision and offering an intriguing view of what might have been.

In addition to the manuscripts themselves, several arrangements have been meticulously re-recorded in London’s legendary Abbey Road Studio Two. This allows the reader to experience George’s arrangements on their own, revealing instrumental lines that may have been difficult to hear in the released recordings. The individual multi-track session files from the re-recording are also included, allowing for closer analysis and remixing.
