Throughout much of July 1965 I was in Madrid working on United Artists’ new production, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum with Zero Mostel and Phil Silvers. As chance would have it, on 2 July the Beatles were to play the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, a well-known bullring in town. Many of the younger members of the crew knew of my Beatles connection and, since all official tickets to the concert had long been sold, I agreed to try calling Brian Epstein’s management company, NEMS (North End Road Music Stores), to get some complimentary ones. I called their London office to get the name and number of the hotel where the boys were staying and dialled the hotel with the intention of speaking to Neil Aspinall, who I knew would be with the group.
To my surprise John answered. He seemed in good cheer. ‘Denis, how are you?’
‘Fine.’
‘Where are you?’
‘I’m here in Madrid.’
‘Come over for a cup of tea.’
I explained about the ticket situation.
‘Yeah, of course we can sort something out. Just get yourself over here.’
I arrived at the hotel at around half past three and chatted with John and the other Beatles for a while. I was pleased to see them, and I think they were happy to see a familiar face. […]

If we modestly consider the Paul McCartney Project to be the premier online resource for all things Paul McCartney, it is undeniable that The Beatles Bible stands as the definitive online site dedicated to the Beatles. While there is some overlap in content between the two sites, they differ significantly in their approach.
