Backstage interview in Cardiff
Dec 12, 1965
On this day, The Beatles performed the last two concerts of their final UK tour, in Cardiff. The first show took place at 5:30 pm and the second at 8 pm. Also appearing on the bill were the Moody Blues, the Paramounts, Beryl Marsden, Steve Aldo, the Koobas, and the Marionettes.
Not a bad journey up with the boys, following Mal, who left eariler with all the equipment. I dont’ know what is going to happen tonight, only Ritchie wants to come straight back after the show because he wants to go to the big Christmas party at Scotch of St. James’s. Anyway this is it, the last show of the year. After this, when all the equipment and stuff is back, I should have a little time for the family over Christmas. Brian has promised us all a nice bonus. We’ve all nearly had a grand time, hard work, but smashing stuff. Anycase the boys are due to go on soon so I’d better sign off for now.

Help! The Beatles are due
THE Capitol Cinema, Cardiff, has been besieged with phone calls since the news that the Beatles are to give two concerts there on December 12. But the 5,000 tickets for the concert can only be obtained through the post, and booking does not begin until November 1.
“No one will be able to get a ticket except through the post,” said a cinema spokesman on Friday. “And four is the maximum number for sale to any one person. Judging by the number of telephone calls in the last two days it looks as if we will have a sell-out almost as soon as booking begins.”
Requests for tickets are expected from all over South Wales and the West Country, as Cardiff is one of only nine cities the Beatles will visit, and the Beatles are not giving any Christmas shows this year.
No other group, except the Moody Blues, have been chosen to appear on the bill at Cardiff.
Another one of the original Mersey sound groups, The Hollies, are due to appear at the Coed Eva Community Centre, Cwmbran, this evening. All 700 tickets sold for Tuesday’s postponed performance will then be valid. The Hollies had to put off Tuesday’s visit because the sister of their singer, Allan Clarke, was dangerously ill.

BEATLE FOR BRISTOL?
BRISTOL is definitely OUT of the Beatles’ mini-tour in December. But one Beatle may pay the city a secret visit in the next few weeks. […]
Beatles press officer, Tony Barrow, finally confirmed this week that Bristol has been ruled out from the short tour fixed for December.
One extra date has been arranged — a two-house show at the Capitol, Cardiff, on December 12. Booking opens on Oct. 31. Mr. Barrow explained: “We were conscious of the fact that the tour did not include any date in the West and Wales. One day was available, and it was allotted to Cardiff because Scotland has one date and we thought Welsh fans deserved one in their capital.”
