About

In December 1969 (on the 15th and on the 21st), Glyn Johns started working on a new version of the “Get Back” LP. His previous attempts had been rejected, but he was asked to give it another try and make sure the album was aligned with the content of the upcoming documentary by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, which was now near completion.

On this day, he continued this effort in a session that lasted from 7 pm to 11:30 pm. He started by mixing take 16 of “I Me Mine“, recorded by the Beatles (minus John Lennon) on January 3.

He likely also worked on a stereo mix of “Across The Universe” based on the February 1968 tapes. He left out the backing vocals from The Beatles and from Gayleen Pease and Lizzie Bravo, two fans invited to the session. This stripped-down mix was released on the “Let It Be (50th anniversary boxset)” released in 2021.

Another session on January 8 would be required for Glyn Johns to complete his work on the “Get Back” LP.

About Glyn Johns’ “Get Back” compilations
