On this day, Wings performed the third show of the “Wings Over Europe” summer tour, in Arles, in the South of France.

The ticket cost was 20 French Francs. The show started at 9 pm.

No recordings of this concert are known to exist.

The next date of the tour was supposed to be in Lyon, on July 14, as per the tour’s initial schedule, but this date didn’t happen. Instead, they would travel to Paris for two performances on July 16.

From Maccazine – On Thursday July 13, 1972 Wings performed at the Théatre Antique in Arles, France. About 3,000 people, mostly tourists, attended this show in a wonderful Roman amphitheatre. Remarkable is the incorrect spelling on the poster.

J’y étais !!! C’est la première fois que je voyais autant de matériel sur la scène du théâtre antique. Au début du concert Paul Mc Cartney était en salopette (un mec normal) et après l’entracte en costume de scène. Il y a cinquante ans et pour moi c’était hier. Inoubliable.

Merci beaucoup pour ces précisions ! Je ne comprenais pas pourquoi j'avais des photos de la même date avec des costumes de scène différents ! Un mystère s'éclaircit !

Wow... Fast forward fifty years...

I not only attended this show, but also recorded it on a cassette...

I shared the contents on the "Easytree.org" tracker on ..2004-11-17, then stumbled again on it several years later on "dimeadozen.org" as "Easytree.org" was renamed on 2009-01-24. This time the show was announced as a rip of CD issued by "Strawberry Records"...

Glad to part of the history...

All the best from a frog eater in Dead-Waters, the big walled city, bottom left corner of the French Delta (yep, we've got ours ..!).
