Concert • By Paul McCartney • Part of the The Paul McCartney World Tour

Last updated on August 13, 2019

From the “New World Tour” tour book, remembering the 1989/90 tour:

I always like Latin countries and Spain is special because it’s the land of the guitar. I like the language too, did it at school from the age of 11 which was a bit unusual then. As a kid I had this mate whose dad was the harbour master on the Herculaneum dock I always loved that name — in Liverpool and he asked me to go and stay the night. It was one of the first stay-overs I had.

I remember the following morning, the boiled egg, after a good kip, it was exciting, I loved it. We went along the docks and had a good play on this massive mound of tyres. Then we came to this Spanish boat and we’d both done about a year of Spanish by then so it was, Buenas dias, senor, and they said, Si, blablabla, and we were, Non rapidamente, por favor. But we managed a bit of a chat.

Paul McCartney

Just after Ain’t That A Shame, Paul recited the lyrics of Tres Conejos, one of the tracks of the Liverpool Oratorio to be released 2 years after this performance, in 1991.
