Apple's 50th anniversary concert

Concert • By Paul McCartney

Last updated on April 4, 2026

On this day, Paul McCartney and his band played their third concert in California in a week, following two shows at the Fonda Theatre on March 27 and 28, 2026.

This time, the performance was a private event, held at Apple Park, the corporate headquarters of Apple Inc., in Cupertino, to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary.

It was not the first time Paul had performed at a private event for a technology company — in 2011, he gave a private concert for HP in Las Vegas. However, his participation in Apple’s celebration carries particular historical resonance.

In 1967, The Beatles launched their company Apple Corps. Nine years later, Apple Computer was founded, leading to a long-running legal dispute between the two companies over trademark rights. Apple Corps sued the technology firm, resulting in a series of settlements: $80,000 in 1978, $26.5 million in 1991, and finally a reported $500 million agreement in 2007, which brought the dispute to a definitive close.

Apple’s 50th anniversary celebrations will conclude this week with a finale at its Cupertino campus for employees. Staffers are pumped after being told who the headliner is. Let me just say he’s still going strong, was part of the British Invasion and Jobs would’ve been ecstatic.

So thrilled to celebrate #Apple50 with @paulmccartney ! His music has inspired us from the beginning, so this is a full circle moment to close out our celebrations. Thank you, Paul, for proving that when you think different, you have the power to change the world.

We had a lot of fun playing for the people at Apple at their headquarters in Cupertino. I can’t believe it’s been 50 years since Steve Jobs gave me my first iPhone, but that’s the truth! 😂 It was lovely to be there to help Tim Cook and his great team celebrate their birthday

Today was magic. I had the honor to open up for both Tim Cook and @paulmccartney for @apple 50th anniversary celebration. I’ve been an Apple zealot since I first got my Apple IIe computer in 1983 and their computers and technology have been at the core of my entire creative life. To be able to share the stage with @paulmccartney to celebrate every bit of the awesomeness was one of the coolest experiences of my life. Thanks to Paul and @marshallarts for having me, and thanks to all of geniuses at Apple that give me the tools to share my vision with the world.
