From Wikipedia:
“Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Cryin’” is a song written by Joe Greene and released in 1946 by Louis Jordan And His Tympany Five. Jordan’s version reached No. 3 in Billboard’s chart of “Most-Played Juke Box Race Records“.
The song was recorded by Ray Charles, and appeared in his 1959’s album The Genius of Ray Charles. Charles’s version reached No. 17 on Billboard’s “Hot R&B Sides” and No. 95 on the Billboard Hot 100. […]
According to Mark Lewisohn in “The Complete Beatles Chronicle“, The Beatles performed “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying” regularly in 1960, with Paul McCartney on lead vocals. However, no known recordings from that period exist. On January 26, 1969, during the “Get Back” sessions, the group briefly revisited the song.
Over the years, Paul McCartney played “Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Cryin’” during his soundchecks, and one of these versions was released on his 1990 live album “Tripping the Live Fantastic.” He also played the song live at two special concerts in December 2010 — first on the 17th at London’s 100 Club, then on the 20th at Liverpool’s O2 Academy.
Don't let the sun catch you cryin',
Cryin' on my front door,?
You done daddy dirty now?
And honey he ain't gonna love you no more.??
And don't let the sun catch you cryin',
Cryin' on my front door,
You done daddy dirty now?
And honey he don't love you no more.
Well you can cry, cry, cry, cry?
Oh now baby, you can wail?
You can bang your little head on the pavement?
Till the man comes and throws you in jail.
Don't let the sun catch you cryin',
Cryin' on my front door?
Yeah you done your daddy dirty now?
And honey he ain't gonna love you no more??
Yeah you can cry, cry, cry, cry?
Oh now baby, baby you can wail?
You can bang your head on that hard hard pavement?
Till the man comes and throws you in jail.?
Don't let the sun catch you cryin'
Cryin' on my front door?
You done daddy dirty now?
And honey he ain't gonna love you no more??
Yeah, you know you done him dirty now.
You know you done him dirty,
And I just can't love you no more.
