“Short Fat Fannie” (alternatively “Short Fat Fanny”) is Larry Williams’ second single release after “High School Dance”. Williams’ original penned track peaked at number five on the U.S. pop chart, and at number one on the R&B chart. It sold over one million records, Williams’ first million seller.

According to Mark Lewisohn in “The Complete Beatles Chronicle“, The Beatles – first as The Quarrymen – performed “Short Fat Fanny” regularly between 1958 and 1961, with John Lennon on lead vocals. However, no known recordings from that period exist.

On January 3, 1969, the second day of the “Get Back” sessions, The Beatles played a version of “Short Fat Fanny.” They played another version of it on January 24, 1969.
